The Dublin Port Tunnel was designed to take HGV (Heavy Good Vehicles) from the M50 to Dublin Port quickly and efficiently with added on benefits of having a cleaner, quieter and safer city without HGV traffic. The construction project employed over 5,000 people during its construction with a total of over 7.5 million man hours needed to complete the project.
The tunnel is toll free for HGV vehicles, buses with more than 25 seats and adapted vehicles for people with disabilities. Charges apply to all other vehicle classes and tolls range between €3 and €12. Headlights should be dipped while driving through the tunnel and speed limits are strictly enforced.
